PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: The premium-quality Chinese garlic in ONE-A-DAY GARLIC TABS is naturally grown, hand-peeled to prevent bruising and premature allicin loss, and processed by a proprietary method that stabilizes the powder without the use of chemical preservatives or additives. The powder is freeze-dried, concentrating it 3-fold, and nitrogen packed to preserve allicin potential until the time of tablet manufacturing. An enteric coating is applied to the tablet in order to guarantee stomach acids do not prevent attainment of the total allicin potential, and providing an odor-free product. One tablet contains all the natural compounds normally provided by fresh garlic cloves, including alliin, allicin, thiosulfinates, gamma-glutamylcysteines, and sulfur; it contains a minimum total allicin potential of 6,000 mcg (from 500 mg of garlic powder), equivalent to 1,500 mg of fresh garlic.

Why do we use an enteric coating on our garlic tabs?
Alliinase is destroyed by stomach acids, so garlic powders subjected to stomach acid are ineffective. An enteric coating is applied to the tablet in order to guarantee stomach acids do not prevent attainment of the total allicin potential thus providing an odour-free product.
Enteric coatings that break down in the small intestine at higher pH (but not under the acidic conditions of the stomach) are thereby required for maximum benefit of a garlic supplement.
