(News Target) There is so much media hype from the mainstream media and leading health authorities, including the naturopathic community, suggesting the many ill effects of consuming Trans Fatty Acids (TFA’s) that the topic of the Great Fat Debate deserves a closer look for the sake of our heath and understanding.

Whilst there is unanimous agreement that TFA’s are problematic and are to be avoided at all costs, some explanations are confusing at best or misleading at worst. It is time for more clarity so we can all choose the fats that are good and avoid those that are bad.

Let’s look at some of these warnings:

Rekha Balu, writing for the Wall Street Journal, states that TFA’s are like saturated fats “which raise bad cholesterol, causing a build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries.” That is incorrect as saturated fats raise both the good and the bad cholesterol and they do not cause fatty deposits in the arteries. An under-active thyroid coupled with stress and a diet high in polyunsaturated oils cause a build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries.

Lynn Roblin, writing for the Toronto Star, advises consumers to avoid TFA’s by consuming more vegetable oils, such as olive oil and canola oil, in preference to butter and coconut oil. Let’s remember that vegetable oils such as canola and safflower are rich in omega-6 fatty acids which have now been proven to cause oxidation of our cells. This reaction leads to inflammation which in turn promotes degenerative conditions and premature aging.

Harvard nutritionist Frank Hu, featured in an article for the Washington Post, says butter is better than margarine, but tub or liquid margarine made from commercial vegetable oils is “a more healthful choice than butter.” What Mr. Hu is promoting is the omega-6 fatty acids which have been hydrogenated and these are technically TFA’s. Quite confusing indeed!

Why is there so much confusion amongst health authorities in relation to fats?

This is because in 1961, the American Heart Association published its first dietary guidelines aimed at the public. The authors, Dr. Ancel Keys, Irving Page, Jeremiah Stamler and Frederick Stare, called for the substitution of polyunsaturated oils for saturated fat. This was put forth even though Keys, Stare and Page had all previously noted in their published papers that the increase in Heart Disease was due to increasing consumption of vegetable oils. The 1961 report did not publish this fact, even after a 1956 paper by Dr. Keys suggested that the increasing use of partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (which is what TFA’s technically are) is one of the culprits in the heart disease epidemic.

Why was Dr. Keys report ignored?

For obvious economic reasons the vegetable oil industry then squashed the reports on the dangers of vegetable oils and stealthily began their phony attack on making saturated fats - meat, eggs, cheese, butter and coconut oil responsible for heart disease.

In actuality, saturated fats are shown to help in preventing heart disease. If we examine the health statistics along with the research on saturated fats consumption from the nations that consume large amounts of saturated fats in their diet, we find that they are among the healthiest nations /tribes/cultures in the world. Herein lies the big ‘fat’ confusion.

Let’s look closer at the FAT debate:

TFA’s are typically found in processed foods such as cookies, margarine, fried foods, fried potatoes, potato chips, crackers, breaded chicken, and fast food. McDonald’s has admitted its french fries contain a third more TFA’s than they had thought. In New York City, there are hefty fines imposed upon restaurants if they are not compliant with avoiding TFA’s in their cooking; this ordinance took effect as of July 2007.

Polyunsaturated Fats Defined

Polyunsaturated oils are liquid at room temperature. Polyunsaturated fats such as Safflower, Corn, Sunflower, Soybean and Cottonseed Oils all contain over 50% omega-6 fatty acids. Safflower oil contains almost 80% omega-6. Researchers have now discovered there are dangers in consuming more of omega-6 oils in our diet then we need. The ideal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 (the essential fatty acid) is 1:1. This is easily achieved if one avoids the use of vegetable oils as omega-6 is far more abundant in our diet then omega-3 essential fatty acids, which is found in cold water fish - salmon, sardines and mackerel.

TFA’s Defined

In order to have polyunsaturated fats last longer and make them look more appealing, food manufacturers use a process called “hydrogenation”. Hydrogenation is a process that takes unsaturated liquid fat (usually some kind of vegetable oil) and adds hydrogen. The result is a TFA.

During hydrogenation, oil is heated to an extremely high temperature; this causes the oil to rapidly oxidize and create free-radicals. In basic chemistry 101, free radicals cause prolific cell damage and is responsible for premature aging.

Even using the so called “healthiest” organic vegetable oils, which includes olive oil, in baking and frying creates free radicals. This is because all vegetable oils oxidize; especially when used in cooking. They not only produce TFA’s but form free radicals - lethal combination for our bodies. The only oil that does not oxidize, even at 170 degree Celsius, is Organic Virgin Coconut oil which is a saturated fat. Amazing!

Avoiding TFA’s at all costs is a must according to the WHO (World Health Organization). This is because TFA’s are injurious to the heart and have been linked to cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes, obesity, immune system dysfunction, birth defects, difficulty in lactation, and problems with bones and tendons. So we want to exclude them from our diet, yet it is difficult when some of the most tempting foods such as commercial cakes, biscuits, chocolates, and potato chips are laden with TFA’s.

Why Saturated fats are not TFA’s

TFA’s have similar properties to saturated fatty acids when used in baked goods, but the claim that TFA’s are like saturated fatty acids is incorrect in view of their molecular bonding/structure and their biological effect in our bodies. This is the area that has been mostly ignored by mainstream media and even among the naturopathic community according to lipid and nutritional expert Dr. Mary G. Enig. Enig campaigned against TFA’s back in the late 1970’s after completing her most extensive research on the analysis of all fats. For more extensive information, see Mary G. So which oils do we use now? A good option is Organic Virgin Coconut oil. This is a saturated fat that is unlike any other fat and truly deserves a classification of its own. With all the research and studies on saturated fats to date, health authorities still group TFA’s with healthy saturated fats like coconut oil. Coconut oil is not only the healthiest saturated fat but is one of the healthiest foods we can consume on a daily basis. Let’s examine the most misunderstood fat that is actually a super food.

Why is Coconut oil unique and unlike any other fat?

Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA’s). Two-thirds of the saturated fat in coconut oil is a medium-chain saturated fat. This important fact deserves clarification as MCFA’s actually helps us to lose weight, lower cholesterol, improve diabetic conditions and reduce the risk of heart disease.

One of the most outstanding benefits of consuming MCFA’s is that they do not require the liver and gallbladder to digest and emulsify them. This means instant energy and increased thermogenesis (increased metabolic rate in the body) which leads to more heat production as well as improved circulation. For anyone with impaired fat digestion or a removed gallbladder, coconut oil is the only oil to consume as it is very easily digested.
MCFA’s are also known for having antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties, so they are beneficial to our immune system. In addition, coconut oil assists people with under-active thyroids by increasing the metabolic rate of the body and creating more energy.

Ray Peat Ph.D., a physiologist who has worked with progesterone and related hormones since 1968, says that the sudden surge of polyunsaturated oils in the food chain post World War II has caused many changes in hormones. He writes:

Their [polyunsaturated oils] best understood effect is their interference with the function of the thyroid gland. Polyunsaturated oils block thyroid hormone secretion, its movement in the circulatory system, and the response of tissues to the hormone. When the thyroid hormone is deficient, the body is generally exposed to increased levels of oestrogen. The thyroid hormone is essential for making the ‘protective hormones’ progesterone and pregnenolone, so these hormones are lowered when anything interferes with the function of the thyroid. The thyroid hormone is required for using and eliminating cholesterol, so cholesterol is likely to be raised by anything that blocks the thyroid function (http://www.efn.org/~raypeat/efatox.rtf)
It is very interesting to note that high cholesterol is not a sign of eating too much saturated fat. High cholesterol in a lot of the cases is due to an under-active thyroid which affects the liver as well as the many loops and feedback systems within the endocrine system. Stress and the over consumption of carbohydrates/sugars also form high levels of cholesterol.

What are saturated fats and why do we need them?

Saturated fats are semi solid at room temperature and are found in animal products such as meat, poultry, lard, poultry skin, whole milk, cheese, eggs, butter and tropical oils such as coconut and palm oil.

Our body actually needs saturated fats to stay healthy. Why?

1) Saturated fats constitute at least 50% of our cell’s membranes - the phospholipid component of every cell. Saturated fatty acids are what gives our cells structural integrity, so the cell walls are not weak and can protect the inside of the cells.

2) Saturated fatty acids play a vital role in the health of our bones. For calcium to be effectively utilized by the bones, at least 50% of the dietary fats should be saturated.

3) Saturated fatty acids actually lower Lipoprotein (a), a substance in the blood that leads to heart disease, whereas excess consumption of vegetable oils increases it.

4) Saturated fatty acids protect the liver from alcohol and other toxins, including Tylenol, a pain reliever.

5) Saturated fatty acids are needed for the proper utilization of omega-3 essential fatty acids because omega-3’s are better retained in the tissues when the diet is rich in saturated fats (particularly organic virgin coconut oil)

6) Saturated stearic acid found in beef and cocoa, and palmitic acid found in coconut oil are the preferred foods for the heart; which is why the fat around the heart muscle is highly saturated. The heart draws on this reserve of fat in times of stress.

7) Saturated fatty acids such as caprylic acid found abundantly in coconut oil, is anti fungal and helps combat candida (yeast overgrowth that is common in our society).

8 ) While saturated fats raise both the bad and the good cholesterol, TFA’s as well as excess consumption of omega-6 fatty acids raise the bad Low Density Lipo-protein (LDL) and suppress the good High Density Lipo-protein (HDL) cholesterol, making it even worse.

In conclusion, avoiding TFA’s is a must. There are no tolerance levels. They are serious culprits of degenerative conditions disguised in some of the most tempting foods to date. Avoiding over consumption of polyunsaturated oils (omega-6 fatty acids) such as flax oil and completely avoiding corn, soy, safflower and canola is a great start, as polyunsaturated oils have been shown to contribute to heart disease, inflammation, under-active thyroid and weight gain.

Use virgin organic coconut oil. I stress the importance of using only virgin organic coconut oil because the refined version of coconut oil no longer has the same structure and same health benefits as the virgin organic coconut oil. In fact, consuming plain coconut oil can even give someone a headache or nausea.

The food manufacturers will not willingly return to using naturally saturated fats such as coconut oil, palm oil, butter and lard because they are more expensive. Only a concerted demand by educated consumers will bring traditional healthy fats back into our commercial food supply and restaurant cooking.

Using organic coconut oil in all cooking and baking is the best choice for a healthy alternative. Because virgin coconut oil is completely saturated and no TFA’s can be made from it, it is therefore harmless. In addition, it does not oxidize, even at 170 degrees Celsius.

Virgin Coconut oil is the fat of fats as it also helps us burn body fat for energy because of its unique molecular structure of medium chain fatty acids. So do enjoy eating more organic virgin coconut oil, drinking organic coconut milk/crème in your teas as well as pouring it over your porridge and munching on macaroons made from organic cocoa and desiccated organic coconut for health and longevity.

EDMONTON — Everybody knows that eating a lot of fat — the wrong kind of fat — can cause a heart attack. That’s the bad news.

Now here’s the worse news: researchers from the University of Alberta have discovered foods rich in trans and saturated fats can also botch up the electricity in your heart, worsening the severity of heart attacks and increasing the risk of death.

For the first time, researchers have discovered that not only do “bad” fats affect the vessels of the heart, but they also affect the heart cells and can disrupt the rhythm of electricity flow in a heart.

“We can see a clear link between diet and the way your heart cells may contract,” said Peter Light, a pharmacologist and a researcher at the Mazankowski Heart Institute, which is set to officially open next year. His research is published in the European Molecular Biology Organization Journal.

“We know these fats are bad for you and it does sort of strike common sense, but what it does highlight is another reason to avoid those trans and saturated fats in your diet.”

The heart burns fat as an energy source to beat more than 100,000 times a day, but Light discovered bad fats stored in the heart cause an excessive build-up of calcium within heart cells. In normal hearts, calcium is pumped in and out of the heart each second with each wave of electricity.

Vitamin warning! Some nutritional supplements use hydrogenated oils as filler

The next time you buy soft-gel vitamins, you’d better take a look at what’s inside them. Would you be surprised if I told you that vitamin companies are taking one of the most toxic food ingredients known to mankind and putting it in soft gels as a filler? It’s absolutely true. You can find it in vitamins and supplements in health food stores, grocery stores, price discount warehouse clubs, retailers and pharmacies all over the country and around the world right now. What toxic ingredient am I referring to? Partially hydrogenated soybean oil. Today, anyone who follows nutrition knows that hydrogenated oils are extremely toxic. We know that, long-term, they will lead to cardiovascular disease and heart attacks. They can even encourage strokes. We know that they cause harm, sometimes irreparable, to the nervous system. We know that they interfere with the absorption of the essential fatty acids you need to maintain healthy cells, a healthy nervous system, healthy blood sugar regulation and many other functions.

Big Pharma manufactures vitamins, too

And yet, vitamin companies – the cheap ones – are taking this ingredient and putting it in soft gels as filler. And that’s not the only ingredient they’re putting in, either. Some vitamin companies are taking artificial colours – that’s right, chemicals extracted from coal tar – and putting them in not only soft gels but in tablets and capsules, too. Now, why on earth would a vitamin company do this? The answer is because some of these companies aren’t at all interested in health. In fact, the dirty little secret of the nutritional supplements industry is that many of these companies are wholly or partially owned by pharmaceutical companies, so these vitamin manufacturers think they can standardize, process and manufacture vitamins in the same way they manufacture prescription drugs (which is an entirely unnatural process, by the way).

When companies manufacture prescription drugs, they really don’t care what goes into them as long as the active ingredient is there. Prescription drugs, in addition to containing highly toxic chemicals that are supposed to be medicinal, also contain highly toxic fillers, colours and other additives that sometimes even counteract the intended effect of the drug. When those pharmaceutical companies decide to branch out into nutritional supplements because it’s a hot industry, they, of course, carry over these same manufacturing practices to nutritional supplements. This is why you don’t want to get your supplements from these mega corporations that are actually owned by Big Pharma. It’s better to get something from smaller, more passionate companies.

I don’t necessarily mean “mum-and-dad” shops, but I mean companies that are solely focused on health, even if they do happen to be commercially successful.  There are a many companies that seem to really care about health and they avoid using toxic ingredients, whereas many other supplement companies don’t care at all what they put in there, as long as they can claim something on the label.

What you see is not always what you get

When you’re buying a soft gel capsule, you would normally think that what goes inside that soft gel is what’s stated on the label. It makes sense, right? So if the label on that vitamin bottle says “salmon oil,” and you take out a soft gel and look at it, you would think it’s filled with salmon oil, right? This is what most people think. This is common sense. But in fact, it is incorrect.You might be amazed to learn this, but that soft gel may not be filled with salmon oil at all; it may have a miniscule amount of salmon oil in it, but the rest of it is just filler. It could be soybean oil, hydrogenated oils or some other form of filler. It could be something that’s actually dangerous to your health, so you’d better read the ingredients labels on those vitamins, minerals and supplements, in addition to reading the ingredients labels on foods, as I’ve always recommended. Watch out! Just because you buy something that looks good on the label – something that claims to have flax oil, salmon oil or vitamin B in it – it doesn’t mean it’s actually good for you.

How to put a negative spin on healthy vitamins: Use cheap vitamins to skew results

Now, of course, researchers have also figured all this out. If I’m a researcher in organized medicine and my mission is to discredit vitamins, these are the vitamins I buy and use in my research. If I wanted to ensure that I had a study saying vitamin E causes an increase in heart attacks, you know how I would do it? I would buy vitamin E soft-gel products that have hydrogenated soybean oil as filler, so that I could be absolutely sure that this study would come out showing an increase of heart attacks. Then, I could write a headline that says, “Vitamin E Kills People!”Following that study, if I were associated with the right school or university or the right medical group, I could send out a press release to all the newspapers around the country or around the world and they would blindly print that headline. People would be all over TV and radio talking about how vitamin E kills you.

How do I accomplish that? I just choose a soft gel container with hydrogenated oils as the toxic filler ingredients because I, as an evil researcher, know that these journalists are not going to ask questions. No one’s going to look at this study and see what the other filler ingredients were. No one’s going to do anything other than reprint whatever I fax them. Why? Because I’m associated with a medical school or a university, that’s why. That’s how it works out there. That’s the real world of nutritional supplements “research.”

Of course, none of that has anything to do with reality because, in the real world, vitamin E is extremely healthy. It’s very good for you, even in higher doses than most people take, and it’s found naturally in nuts and seeds. Salmon oil is also very good for your health in many ways; not just your heart health, but also for your nervous system health, for stabilizing blood sugar and for providing nutrtion and lubrication to some of the cells, organs and tissues in your body.

There are so many healthy products out there. It’s just a shame when these companies take healthy oils, vitamins and minerals and package them in unhealthy containers. They package them in tablets, capsules and soft gels that have other ingredients that will actually harm you if you take them with enough frequency and duration.

Take your healthy vitamins correctly to see results

This is why I have consistently recommended that you get your nutrition from eating whole foods, superfoods or nutritional supplements made from whole food concentrates. Of course, there are some nutrients that you can’t get that way, like cod liver oil and salmon oil, but there are companies out there that really care about the quality of their oils and aren’t going to give you garbage.

The truth about calcium supplements

In terms of calcium supplements, I know that calcium is one of the most common supplements out there and researchers have managed to finagle a study that even shows calcium supplements aren’t useful for boosting the bone density of elderly patients. People are being told that calcium is absolutely worthless if you don’t digest it and absorb it. So how do you do that?Well, you certainly don’t take it with an antacid. That’s a ridiculous way to get calcium. Calcium needs to have an acidic environment in order to be broken down and assimilated by your digestive system. If you don’t have acid in your stomach, then you can’t absorb the calcium. And if you don’t have vitamin D in your small intestine, you can’t absorb the calcium, either. There are a lot of senior citizens out there who are spending small fortunes on calcium supplements and antacid tablets, but they’re not getting any sunshine. And that means they’re not getting enough vitamin D. With a vitamin D deficiency, they can’t even absorb the calcium. It’s either going right through their bodies or actually contributing to the buildup of calcification in their kidneys. So guess what? They’ll probably end up with kidney stones.

When I was at a discount warehouse club recently, I was looking at all these supplements – calcium, vitamin D, flax oil, cod liver oil and so on – and reading the ingredient labels, and I could only find one product that I would personally consume. Only one! I saw people buying these vitamins by the basket-load, thinking they were doing themselves some good. The only one I found that didn’t have any artificial ingredients or other garbage in it was organic flax oil. Every other product offered was garbage, in my view. Nutritionally, it was a disaster. I wouldn’t feed those supplements to any person or animal that I cared about.

So there you go. This is the nutritional supplement industry that a lot of people see. I know that these particular supplements are from the same manufacturers that you find making low-cost vitamins sold at grocery stores and pharmacies. It’s no wonder that some people have such a dim view of the nutritional supplements industry. They take these products and they feel worse.

Well, no wonder; you’ve just consumed toxic ingredients – not what was in the label, but what was listed in the fine print of the ingredients section. No wonder you feel worse; you’re just eating hydrogenated oils. You’re actually taking them as a supplement. What a foolish thing to do, but people do it every single day in this country.

Lawmakers deserve a lot of blame and shame for allowing this to go on, in my view. The fact that food manufacturers and vitamin supplement manufacturers can put highly toxic, death-promoting, disease-causing ingredients into your foods, products and supplements and sell them to you without warning labels is absolutely unconscionable. It’s near criminal that they allow this to happen.

Failing to warn consumers about toxic vitamin fillers should be a crime

Lawmakers have been asleep at the wheel. They’ve allowed food companies to run the system. They’ve allowed drug companies and nutritional supplement manufacturers to steamroll any attempt to protect the public, and that’s why all these dangerous, toxic, disease-promoting ingredients are still perfectly legal.The FDA seemingly continues to actually support these ingredients. They haven’t done enough to try to outlaw them. It seems that from the FDA’s point of view, getting tough means sending a wimpy warning letter that says, “Oh, by the way, your ads are misleading people.” To them, it means requiring trans fats to be listed on foods. Never mind actually outlawing the ingredient.

In my opinion, the FDA should ban these ingredients. They should be outlawed. It should be a crime to put a toxic substance into a food product and sell it to a consumer. Shouldn’t that be a crime? I mean, if the world made sense, it would be a crime, especially now that we know these ingredients promote disease. It’s not even debatable anymore. Heck, even the FDA finally has admitted it and is requiring labels – warning labels, in a sense – that say, “Here’s how many grams of trans fat you have in this food.” That’s a warning label, folks. There is no nutritionist or doctor in his or her right mind who would argue that these ingredients are safe for long-term human consumption.

Yet every single day, we have consumers going into these discount club warehouse stores, pharmacies, grocery stores and even health foods stores, buying these dangerous products, taking them home, consuming them and thinking that they are doing themselves some good. In fact, they are actually harming themselves. When I see this situation, I genuinely fear for the future of this nation; I really do. I’m not sure if we can ever get above water again, if we can ever overpower the financial interests of big business that have allowed this to happen (and have in fact lobbied for and defended it). It’s possible that we’re going to spiral out of control into a health collapse, where everybody is diseased from the moment they’re born, nutrition is nonexistent and everyone is financially beholden to this system of pharmaceutical companies, doctors, hospitals and diagnostic labs because they’ve been labeled with various diseases that could have been solved or prevented by changing the food supply and outlawing dangerous ingredients.

You want to know the funny part in all of this? Everything I’ve been talking to you about, everything that I’m outraged about in this particular commentary, was found in the “healthy” section of this particular retailer. This was the health section, folks. This was the stuff that’s supposed to be good for you. The rest of that store was just outright garbage – products loaded with sugars and artificial colours, hydrogenated oils, high sodium, tons of preservatives (literally, tons of preservatives), sodium nitrate – just all kinds of unhealthy ingredients from top to bottom, stacked as high and as far as the eye can see in this warehouse retailer.

Spread the word: Your neighbors’ vitamins could be toxic

I believe we each have to do our part and stand up and speak the truth. That’s what I’m trying to do here. I’m telling everyone I meet and everyone I know, “You’ve been conned. You’ve been scammed by the system, by a bunch of manufacturers, a whole lot of big business and a good dose of government corruption thrown in to protect the system and make sure you never find out what is going on. You’ve been scammed.”The only way to beat the scam is to get outside the system – get outside of conventional medicine, give up all these processed foods and move over to a healthy lifestyle where you actually have cognitive function and where you have mental awareness because you’re eating well. You’re eating real food, not that processed, manufactured garbage that passes for food in most peoples’ homes in the United States and everywhere around the world.

So if you have a friend or a family member who doesn’t know about this, and you’d like to either help them or annoy them (your pick), tell them what’s really in their vitamins. Show them: Pick up that vitamin bottle out of their cabinet, refrigerator, purse or wherever they happen to have it and point out that artificial colour, that FD&C Red No. 2, yellow dye or whatever it happens to be in that particular vitamin. Point it out to them; show them the hydrogenated oils in these vitamins. Point out the sucrose, the corn syrup, propylene glycol or whatever else happens to be in there. Show them what they’re really consuming and then give them a better choice. Introduce them to a health food store in your local community that sells some quality products. Encourage them to go there if they really want to take care of their health.

It’s funny that people complain about how much money it costs to buy nutritional supplements. Then, they go out and spend a few dollars on vitamins that will actually make them sick. They think they’re getting a bargain. I say that you might as well spend your money on cigarettes, you know? You might as well eat some fried chicken. If you’re going to spend $6 on a bottle of vitamins that are bad for you, then skip the whole thing and just go eat some hamburgers at the local fast food restaurant or some cookies from the grocery store. Of course, I don’t recommend that anyone do any of that. I recommend you spend your money wisely on nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals, and herbs from passionate, honest companies you can trust.

Of course, they’re going to be slightly more expensive, if not a lot more expensive. But aren’t you worth it? If you’re going through the trouble of taking these supplements, shouldn’t you put the best thing you can find into your body? Don’t you deserve healthy supplements, rather than supplements packaged with hydrogenated oils and other poisons that are legalized by our system of corrupt government and private industry? Canada has done what the U.S. refuses to do: Protect the health of its people through a national program of encouraging vitamin D supplementation. While U.S. cancer groups like the American Cancer Society stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the benefits of vitamin D supplements in cancer prevention, the Canadian Cancer Society is launching a program to make sure every Canadian citizen receives a level of vitamin D sufficient to prevent most cancers, including breast cancer.

The U.S., in contrast, has no interest in preventing cancer… even when a simple, virtually free substance like vitamin D could drop national cancer rates by more than 75 percent.

New research published this month shows that vitamin D supplementation produces an astonishing 77 percent reduction in all cancers in women, making it the single most effective medicine for preventing cancer that has ever been discovered by modern medical science. The American Cancer Society, however, seems stuck in the nutritional dogma of the 1950’s and continues to claim that only drugs, radiation and surgery can treat cancer, and that nutritional supplements have no role to play whatsoever in cancer prevention. This view is so out of date that it belongs in a museum of medicine, not on the agenda of an advanced nation. (Stating that vitamin D has no useful role in preventing cancer is as hopelessly outdated as claiming the Earth is flat.)

The politics of cancer: Keep ‘em sick!

As usual, America’s abandonment of the world’s best natural anti-cancer medicine has nothing at all to do with science, but everything to do with politics and profits. If vitamin D were a cancer drug made by Pfizer, the American Cancer Society would likely be pushing it as the next “miracle” drug and calling for everyone to be put on the drug. But since it’s a nutrient that cannot be patented, and can actually be manufactured for free by exposing your skin to natural sunlight, the entire U.S. cancer industry now laughingly pretends that vitamin D supplementation offers no benefits.

Each day that the American Cancer Society, the AMA, the FDA and others in conventional medicine refuse to acknowledge the benefits of vitamin D supplements for preventing cancer, they lose yet more credibility and slip one step closer towards global humiliation and irrelevance. It is difficult to imagine how anyone from conventional medicine can show up at a health event and say, with a straight face, that they’re doing everything they can to fight cancer when in reality they are willfully ignoring a prevention medicine that really works: Vitamin D. It’s simple, safe and virtually free, and it has no negative side effects, requires no patent royalties, and is available right now to everyone.

If there were ever a cancer prevention strategy to get behind, this is it! The people in the cancer industry, if they had any sense, should be leaping out of their chairs, fumbling over each other in a mad rush to the press conference podium to announce their support for vitamin D. And yet what do we hear in the United States? Complete apathy. It’s as if these people somehow believe that a vitamin manufactured by the human body itself has no role in human nutrition. The depth of blind ignorance at work here is mind boggling. Someone should actually start a psychological study of the people in the cancer industry to figure out how their minds can work that way. It should be called, “The Madness of Crowds and the Illusion of Cancer Treatments in Western Medicine.”

To not get behind vitamin D is to miss the cancer prevention opportunity of a lifetime. Imagine: For every 100 women that will someday get breast cancer, more than 75 of them could entirely avoid breast cancer through the use of vitamin D. That’s 75 women out of 100 who could have their health (and their lives) given back to them through a nutrient that is essentially free. (Add in green tea and some rainforest herbs, and this number leaps to around 90 percent, by the way.) Why wouldn’t everyone in the cancer industry want to save 75% of these women from breast cancer?

I’ll tell you why, and you won’t like the answer. It’s because the cancer industry depends on all 100 of those women being diagnosed with cancer and treated with profitable cancer “management” protocols like chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Preventing cancer in 75 percent of women (or more) would deny the cancer industry three-fourths of its revenue. It would shrink the industry, reduce funding, and result in a mass exodus of cancer jobs. Donations would dry up and cancer non-profits (which thrive on the continuation of cancer) would lose big. This is why they won’t support cancer prevention that really works. Preventing cancer is simply not in the self interest of the cancer industry. Prevention is bad for business.

When will America show interest in cancer prevention?

Canada, not surprisingly, is a little quicker to catch on to the enormous benefits of vitamin D in preventing cancer. “We are monitoring the evidence and believe there is a real role for vitamin D to reduce our risk for cancer and so far there are very few side effects,” the Cancer Society’s Heather Logan said in a CTV News report. Actually, there are side effects: Reduced risk of diabetes, obesity, depression, mental disorders and all sorts of cancers. Vitamin D is the miracle medicine the cancer industry claims it’s searching for when it asks you to donate for those “run for the cure” events. But the cure already exists, and it’s available for free.

When it comes to the cancer industry, Canada is the first western nation to stand up and say, “The Emperor has no clothes!” It makes you wonder how long it’s going to take before America will finally stop supporting the cancer industry at the expense of hundreds of thousands of lives each year and, instead, start getting serious about cancer prevention. How many Americans have to die before the criminally-operated U.S. cancer industry will be forced to let go of its stranglehold over the American public and finally acknowledge that we can slash national cancer rates by nearly 80% right now by urging people to get more sunlight and vitamin D?

Corporations and governments, of course, view lives as expendable. Encouraging sickness, disease and cancer is a high priority to those who profit from such sickness. And if a few hundred thousand Americans have to die in order to meet next quarter’s corporate profits, then so be it. Americans are expendable. Lives are cheap. They’re so cheap, in fact, that most of the people living in America today take no steps to protect themselves against cancer. I guess some corporations figure, hey, if the people are willingly giving themselves cancer through their foods, cigarettes, toxic cosmetics and chemical exposures, then why should we stop them?

Screening and treatment = Recruiting and profit-taking

The more cancer there is, the richer the drug companies and radiological equipment manufacturers become. More cancer means more profit, and more profit means more influence in Washington. And that explains why nobody in Washington seems to express any interest whatsoever in actually preventing cancer in this country. (Trying to get lawmakers to pass a cancer prevention bill is about as useless as trying to get them to pay off the national debt and balance the federal budget.)

With the cancer industry, the entire focus is on “screening” and “treatment.” Those terms can be more accurately translated into “recruiting” and “profit-taking.” Screening is simply a way to recruit patients into a highly profitable assembly line of cancer treatments which offer no cures and no prevention, only the “management” of the disease so that the maximum profits can be extracted from the patient without actually eliminating their disease. It’s quite a clever scam, and it explains why screening is so often offered for free: It’s just like a crack dealer offering a free hit, but only once. After you’re hooked, you gotta pay.

The cancer industry tries to promote this “recruiting & profit-taking” propaganda through lies like, “Early detection saves lives.” Oh really? Actually, early detection generates more profits, since 9 out of 10 “early detection” positives are, in fact, completely bogus. The cancer detection technology today is so incredibly advanced that it can even detect cancers that aren’t there! (And then the patient is urged to undergo chemotherapy “just in case.”)

Prevention is the only real solution

The only way out of this cancer madness is through prevention. As Dr. Cedric Garland, professor at University of California, San Diego, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and Moores Cancer Center said about Canada’s decision, “I think this is an important and historic step in the right direction. I think it will offer leadership in the world… as Canada will be the first country in the world to adopt this public health recommendation… Over time, this finding has the potential of eliminating a quarter of a million cases of cancer in North America annually and about 100,000 deaths from cancer annually.”

The U.S., of course, will likely be the last modern nation to reluctantly admit that cancer can be prevented with vitamin D. That’s because the U.S. is “profit central” for the disease industry that preys upon cancer victims and, in fact, encourages cancer by actively preventing cancer prevention. The U.S. government has no interested in protecting its citizens from disease. Rather, the government actually conspires with pharmaceutical companies and non-profit disease groups to keep the American public in a state of chronic disease through nutritional deficiencies, exposure to toxic chemicals and side effects of pharmaceuticals. And it’s working! The U.S. is the most diseased nation in the world, sporting higher rates of degenerative disease (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression and obesity, combined) than any other nation. On top of that — get this — we pay the highest health care costs in the world!

All that money apparently isn’t doing any good. Meanwhile, free cures for cancer are available right now in the form of natural sunlight. Nearly-free prevention methods are well documented and include nutritional supplementation with vitamin D. We know how to prevent cancer, it’s just that the corrupt politicians and dirty non-profits in charge of this country won’t allow the disease to be prevented at all. There’s too much money to be made in treating cancer, and there’s no incentive whatsoever to teach the public how to prevent cancer and avoid becoming cancer patients.

The curtain is closing on America’s future

America is a public health disaster. And it’s going to pay the ultimate price: As I’ve stated before, I believe that health care costs and the mass poisoning of the American people will ultimately cause this nation to self destruct. The “America experiment” is nearly over, and when the whole giant mass of disease and debt collapses, we’re going to be left with a nation of mutant humans hopped up on pharmaceuticals… infertile, mentally impaired, emotionally imbalanced and nutritionally devastated.

We have very nearly lost the battle for the future of this country. The next generation of Americans is already being raised on junk foods, dosed on Ritalin, injected with mercury vaccines, coated in toxic sunscreen chemicals and taught a lifestyle of debt, over-consumption and use of natural resources that simply cannot be sustained for even one more generation. When reality hits the fan, these kids are going to be shocked beyond belief. They have no clue of the tidal wave of poverty, misery and destruction headed their way, courtesy of the extremely corrupt political leaders who have sold out the future of this country in order to win their next election.

Cancer is one area where the science clearly and inarguably shows how we could save trillions of dollars and millions of lives over the next century. Here’s a segment repeated from my previous story on vitamin D. It’s important. Soak this in:

Did you know that reducing the cancer death rate by just 1% would be worth almost $500 billion to the U.S. economy over the next hundred years or so? (Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.) Drop the cancer rate by 10% and it’s worth $5 trillion dollars to the economy. These gains are due to increased productivity and life spans of working, contributing people.

We know right now that vitamin D and calcium can slash cancer rates by 77 percent. Do the math on that, and you realize that sunlight and calcium could result in a $38.5 trillion boost to the U.S. economy over the next century.

That’s enough economic productivity to pay off our entire national debt, build new schools in every town and city in the country, provide free college educations to all young people who wish to go to college, invest billions in new energy technologies and even fund massive health education campaigns to keep our population healthy. With that kind of increased abundance, we could build a whole new society of health, wealth and education.

That’s the future being denied by the cancer industry today. They have sold out our future in a desperate grab for next quarter’s profits. They’re not interested in the future of America, or the health of future generations or even the pain and suffering of people battling cancer right now. They’re only interested in one thing: Power. Power over people and money. And the more cancer that exists in the world, the more power they have. Cancer prevention is a threat to the cancer industry, pure and simple. And yet, at the same time, the cancer industry is a threat to America’s future. We cannot save this nation from self destruction if half our population is dying from cancer. (That statement should seem obvious, but it’s way over the head of just about every politician in Washington these days.)

Action items

Here’s what you do:

1) Get natural sunlight on your skin as often as you can. The darker your skin, the more sunlight you need.

2) Never, ever submit to chemotherapy or radiation. These procedures cause severe harm and can ultimately kill you. Seek naturopathic cancer therapies only. Don’t submit to mammograms, either, since they actually cause cancer!

3) Don’t ever give financial support to prominent cancer non-profits, which are almost universally allied with drug companies and radiology equipment manufacturers.

4) Don’t get suckered into visiting an oncologist. Using fear, intimidation and authority, they will lure you into an extremely harmful system of treatments that are dangerous to human health. Instead, visit naturopathic physicians only (N.D.).

5) Prevent cancer in your own life by getting sunlight, eating lots of raw, fresh produce, taking superfood supplements (like spirulina, green tea and rainforest herbs) and engaging in regular exercise


6) Avoid all cancer-causing food ingredients (like sodium nitrite), cosmetics (all popular brands), personal care products, home cleaning products, cigarettes, etc. Nearly everyone who has cancer gave it to themselves! You can avoid that by avoiding the things that promote cancer (like hair coloring chemicals, nail polish, chlorine pools, etc.)

7) Educate yourself. The more ignorant you remain of cancer, the more easily the cancer industry can manipulate you and seduce you into their system of harmful treatments. By teaching yourself the truth about cancer prevention, you’ll avoid being exploited by an oncologist.

Finally, I’d like you to know that among the well informed natural health practitioners, cancer is considered as easily curable disease in stages 1 - 3. (Only late-stage cancer is challenging.) One alternative cancer doc I know of describes cancer as, “More easily curable than the common cold.” He has helped thousands cure cancer. Curing cancer is incredibly easy when you use natural medicine and make radical changes to your diet and lifestyle. Conventional medicine, however, is clueless, and conventional therapies like chemotherapy actually make the patient weaker and more susceptible to cancer. Once you undergo chemotherapy, all bets are off. Your immune system is severely compromised. So in my opinion, avoiding chemotherapy is essential to curing cancer.

And don’t think you can “play it safe” and do both chemotherapy and natural medicine. You have to make a choice: Death or life. If you want death, go with chemotherapy. It’s known as “legalized euthanasia” in medical circles. But if you want to live, go with natural medicine.

There’s really no such thing as “cancer”

Remember this: I’ve had cancer a thousand times in my life already. So have you. We beat it automatically, unknowingly, routinely… with a functioning immune system and a little help from nature’s medicines (found in foods and botanicals). Every person gets cancerous cells in their body, no exceptions. So don’t be scared by talk that you’ve “GOT cancer.” There is actually no such thing as a “cancer” disease. It’s simply a name that doctors have given to observable symptoms that they can make money treating. A cancer tumor is not a disease, it is a symptom of a severe metabolic or immunological imbalance. You can’t cure cancer by removing the symptom, you can only cure it by rebalancing the body and activating the body’s own natural anti-cancer defenses.

Preventing cancer is child’s play. It’s so simple that it should be taught in the first grade. And yet the whole subject mystifies all the cancer doctors and researchers who remain stuck in the upside-down universe of chemical treatments and medical reductionism. It’s amazing how people who are so smart can ultimately act so stupid. But it just goes to show you: Being book smart doesn’t necessarily help you in the real world. I’d rather be “sun smart” and soak up some healthy rays while the pale-skinned genius cancer docs are choking down chemo drugs and trying to figure out why they’re all so diseased.

Some folks just don’t get it. You won’t find answers in that microscope, my friends. Back away from the technical gear and start to look at the big picture: The human experience, the planet, the universe… nature! This is where the answers are found, on the macroscopic scale, not the microscopic. Mark my words: Cancer will never be cured chemically. It can only be prevented and overcome holistically. The massive “search for a cure” was doomed to fail from the very start, because it could not (and still cannot) view a patient from a holistic perspective.

You could pour ten trillion dollars into cancer research and still never find a single chemical that will cure it. There is no chemical cure, there are only holistic cures provided by nature and the healing power of the human body.

FACT: Heart disease is the world’s biggest killer. And heart disease is often a silent killer. The first sign of cardiovascular disease is commonly a heart attack, and sadly, over one third of heart attacks are fatal.

And despite the propaganda, the truth is this: it is unsaturated fats that are primarily involved in heart disease, not the saturated fats, as you have been led to believe

The U.S. Department of Health and the FDA estimate that artificially hydrogenated trans-fats — the type found in fast food, processed foods and your favorite pastries — are ultimately responsible for a huge number of fatal heart attacks every year.
